Which class! At Mulino Nera party for the 50th anniversary of graduation: «Yesterday all 7 in conduct and four 6, today exemplary citizens»

Evening of memories and emotions where the 5th B of the Liceo Galilei who graduated in 1974 met again 50 years after graduating. The group wanted to celebrate the anniversary through memories in the splendid and evocative Locanda Mulino Nera on the outskirts of Valnerina. A brilliant class, rather restless and in their own way over the top. A large group who wanted to savor the atmosphere of that unforgettable period, also remembering those who are no longer here today.

A rebellious class, just think that at the end of the first quarter the whole of the then 5th B class of the Liceo Galilei had a 7 in conduct with four students even having a 6. «Among these was the undersigned – says Sandro Corsi, president of the coop social Actl – but then, in life, I don’t think we went badly: today teachers, entrepreneurs, builders, doctors, public figures, business managers and in any case all exemplary citizens. In that class, beyond the significant socio-economic differences, there was a mix resulting from the anti-authoritarian rebelism that arose from ’68 which reverberated in some in political commitment in the extra-parliamentary and revolutionary left and in others towards a playful common action and irreverent. In this melting pot of carefree vitality we had a lot of fun but we also studied and did two months of self-management marked by profound cultural research and innovative study.”

Another student from that class is Settimo Bronzetti, today responsible for the anesthesia and resuscitation department of the Narni hospital, the Narni pain therapy and the Terni hospice: «They were years of political struggles and protests, the fistfights outside the high school between opposing factions were practically weekly. Even in our class there were differences of opinion, but the nice thing about this meeting is that even those disagreements immediately vanished. To explain how united we were, I want to tell you an episode. At school I was someone who studied a lot but collected little, this was because I was very anxious. And Sandro Corsi, whom I will never stop thanking, already very mature even though still a boy in those years, gave me advice that was fundamental for the rest of my life. And that is, I didn’t have to worry if the solutions didn’t arrive immediately because they would have passed me by, as long as I stayed awake. Well from that moment my grades began to improve significantly and then, especially at university, I began to gain a lot of satisfaction in studying.”

My thoughts went above all to those comrades who left too soon: Giuliano Berlutti, Maurizio Francucci, Stefano Siano, Marco Piacenti, Marco Anullo Pertichetti. And the guitar and voice of Roberto Casini, a musician who also graduated in 1974 in the 5th B of Galileo, brought the atmosphere back to those years and enlivened the evening by playing and singing the songs of the time: «Poche per la truth to let them speak and dialogue in peace. Remaining in the background I played two instrumental songs by Santana “Europa” and “Moonflower”, then a song by Bryan Adams “Run To You”, the Toto masterpiece “I’ll be over you” and the sweet and melancholy “Amico di Ieri” by Orme, a song that we dedicated to our friends who are no longer physically with us but always present in our hearts. Then “Noi due nel Mondo e nell’Anima” by Pooh, upon explicit request “La Canzone del Sole” and finally “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple. Next time we will put a stage where everyone can have a microphone and a few minutes to briefly recount some episodes from the second half of their lives.”
