He leaves tomorrow, Monday 17 Junewith the first operational meetingthe project “Central Europe Biodiversity”, dedicated to the value of biodiversity. Funded by Transnational Interreg Central Europe call with a total financial endowment of 2.3 million euros, aims to strengthen the strategies of territorial development starting from local communitiesrelating them in a large European network, supported by several economic and scientific experts.

The first operational meeting of the European project to strengthen territorial development strategies will be held on Monday in Genoa

“There Liguria regionwith ‘Central-BIC’ confirms itself as a landmark in its commitment to a strategy of protection and valorization of natural riches – says the interim president of the Liguria Region Alessandro Piana with a team that involves technical and administrative knowledge and skills in the field of biodiversity, green transition and of theenvironmental economics.

Furthermore, it will implement its action through the tools for valorization of ecosystems in the agri-food production and in the integrated models of Sustainable Development of the territory. There Liguria region in fact it will involve 5 Regional parks and an interdisciplinary pool of experts ARPAL, ANCI, UNIGE DIEC– Environmental Economy, Filse and Agency in Liguria who, with their skills and specializations, will play a fundamental role in the design, planning and implementation of interventions.

Together with Liguria region they will work local communities who have and will have a key role in the implementation of the strategy, as they are the true custodians of the territorial ecosystems and the opportunities for valorising the territories”.

With the kick-off meeting on Monday, which will be attended by i project partnersthe Joint Program Secretariat based in Austria and the implementing subjects, the Liguria region therefore adds a new chapter to the ecological transition and the development of the hinterland in which it has already been involved for some time.

“Central-BIC, Central Europe Biodiversity Innovative Communitiesin fact, aims to trigger processes of active protection and development of the territory – concludes the interim president Alessandro Pianaovercoming the conflict between rural communities and nature conservation. A challenge in which the Liguria region will be connection point throughout the project life cycle, from the initial phase to the capitalization processes and will guide the managementthe methodology and the implementation of project actions, with a partnership of 12 institutions which involve, in addition toItalyAlso Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Austria and Slovakia”.

L’University of MunichIfuplan (Institute for Environmental Planning and Spatial Development), will be the coordinator of the naturalistic analysis and strategy. The Department of Economics of the University of Genoa will support the Liguria Region in coordinating the analysis and socio-economic strategy. The Austrians from ECECE (European Center of Entrepreneurship Competence & Excellence) they will coordinate pilot actions for the valorization of ecosystem services and community processes.
