the dream of flight transformed into reality. The story of Mattia Salvati Giromini, a 23-year-old airline pilot for Ryanair, at the controls of a Boeing 737/Photo and Video

Mattia Salvati Giromini, 23 years old from Imperiahe fulfilled his dream: to become a airline pilot. In fact, today he is at the command of a Ryanair Boeing 737. We met him in the dining room FedeFlySim flight simulator, in via Foce a Imperia, where, like many other pilots and simple enthusiasts, he keeps himself in exercise on the occasion of his increasingly rare returns home.

Mattia Salvati Giromini followed in his father’s footsteps and began his journey at the age of 21, attending the Academy of Rome. He now flies with Ryanair and is based in Berlin

Explains Mattia Salvati Giromini: “I have completed all his studies at 22 years old and the first flight, the very first flight, it was at 22 years old. Now I’m officially airline pilot and I’ve already started for several months and at the moment I’m working in Berlin. My career at the moment is launched as first official and it’s right at the beginning. Yes it can start this journey at 21 years old and I started right away.”

How was this passion born, how did it all begin?

“Being my father is a pilotbefore me obviously, Ever since I was really little I saw him in uniform or in any case my parents took me toVillanova d’Albenga airport to see airplanes or in any case precisely to see my father piloting and from there it already began, from an early age birth of this passion, which then grew over the years.

I also started to study subjects that are increasingly closer to this worlduntil then, precisely after completing my classical school studies, I approached this world throughAcademy in Rome and then subsequently with my company in Londonwhere I completed everything.

They definitely are several years of studywhere, unfortunately in my journey, there was also the pandemic and therefore these times have also been extended a little, but there are several years of study, like a normal university course in the end. L’Academy itself has a duration almost equal to a university coursebut obviously it has some theoretical and practical parts where they fly propeller airplanes and where they begin to form first hours of flight actual visually and instrumentally and in the meantime there are the exams for each type of subject and then from physics at the mathematicsthere’s a bit of anatomy and a bit of all genres.

Upon completion of the flight hours and these subjects, you obtain the license to be able to start applying for the various commercial airlinesto work”.

Any advice for young people like you who would like to be airline pilots?

“Surely it is a world that is truly open to everyonethat is, to anyone who has passion and has will And desire to study. There is a world that opens up to these people. I had classmates who had studied in high school and followed study paths that were totally opposite to this world is that they didn’t have any problems.

If you have desire to study and you are determined on this path, it is certainly a world open to all. I’ve been there for face various challengesdefinitely, because you have to study hard and you have to dedicate a lot of time and effort to this. It requires sacrifices“.
