Macerata remembers Enrico Sbriccoli, aka Jimmy Fontana, with a day in his honor on the tenth anniversary of his death. The appointment is for Wednesday, starting from 10am in the University auditorium, where the university will propose the seminar “Macerata remembers Jimmy Fontana. The life and works of the great artist between popular culture and imagination”. The meeting, conducted by Massimiliano Stramaglia, delegate of the rector for Musicultura and author of several scientific publications on the role of music in the construction of young people’s identity, will be enriched by the participation of Luigi Fontana, son of the famous author and performer, of the singer-songwriter and producer Massimo Di Cataldo and Andrea Valentini, friend of Jimmy Fontana, as well as manager of the Venanzetti bar, owned by the family for 15 years, who will offer further insight into Sbriccoli’s life and work. “A day dedicated to the memory and valorization of one of the most illustrious figures of our city who, with his art, was capable of leaving an indelible mark on the musical panorama – comment the mayor Sandro Parcaroli and the councilor Riccardo Sacchi –. The administration pays homage to a legendary voice part of our artistic and cultural heritage and does so by dedicating to him a place that has a particular flavour, because the loggia of the Palazzo degli Studi was the scene of many moments, of daily life but also artistic, which starred Jimmy Fontana”. In fact, at 6 pm, the ceremony naming the loggia of Palazzo degli Studi after the famous singer-songwriter will take place. “With commitment and passion, together with the Municipality of Macerata and thanks to the hospitality and sensitivity of the University and Musicultura – states Luigi Fontana, Jimmy’s son – we are ready to give life to a day entirely dedicated to my father and his love for his land. I am proud to have been born here. Thank you Macerata”.
