An explosion this afternoon, just before 3pm, occurred in San Marzano sul Sarno, caused by the fire of a car powered by methane. The explosion and flames caused damage to cars parked nearby and to the external parts of adjacent houses on the side street of Via Gramsci.
Four people were injured, fortunately only slightly, by the shattering of window frames. One injured person had to be transferred to hospital. The 118 health workers and the firefighters of Nocera and Sarno were on site and put out the flames and made the area safe by checking for any damage to the structures. Some pieces of the exploded car were found on the terraces of nearby buildings. The Carabinieri and the emergency electricity service were also on site for all the necessary checks. There is a lot of fear for the resident citizens.
