Grosseto, 15 June 2024 – A violent impact that made him jump from the motorbike and end up in the ditch that runs along the road. His condition immediately appeared very critical, so much so that the intervention of “Pegaso” was also requested, but the air ambulance was of no use, because despite the doctors’ help, with a long attempt at resuscitation, his heart stopped beating.
This is what happened shortly after 5.30pm yesterday on the street “Castiglionese“, a short distance from the crossroads for Marina di Grosseto. Lapo Bernardi, 68 years old, resident in Florence, a dentist by profession, was traveling alone on the “BMW” motorbike in the direction of Castiglione. A straight stretch of road.
On the opposite side, in the direction of the city, he was traveling a van driven by a 32 year old boy resident in Grosseto who began to turn left, to enter a small road, without realizing the arrival of the motorbike. The head-on collision was inevitable.
The centaur ended up on the side of the road and the motorbike also caught fire. One of the first to intervene was a professional from Grosseto who immediately called “112” and then, using a fire extinguisher that he had in the car, put out the beginning of the fire.
Help arrived with a medical vehicle from Grosseto, the Red Cross ambulance and then also with the “Pegaso” crew, but unfortunately every attempt proved in vain. The boy driving the van was treated on the spot, his physical condition did not cause any concern, even though he was in shock.
The road remained closed for a long time to also allow the investigations entrusted to the municipal police who will now have to accurately reconstruct the dynamics of the accident which, however, currently appears clear.
