AGI – A sophisticated system to ‘rig’ slot machines and defraud the State of around 5,000 euros per day for each machine: the carabinieri of the company Cammarata, in the Agrigento area, making use of the collaboration of personnel from the Customs Agencies, they found slot machines in Cammarata and San Giovanni Gemini inside which two motherboards were installed: one legal and one illegal. The latter, cleverly hidden, was able to interrupt the electronic flow of accounting data, eliminating the winnings and generating an illicit profit for the owners of the premises. A remote control in their possession allowed them to activate the ‘switch’ from one card to another, making it impossible for Monopolies to monitor actual game operations.

The operation led to the seizure of 6 slot machines, 12 motherboards, 6 antennas, 2 conversion devices, 4 remote controls and approx 5,000 euros in coins from one to two euros, a sum considered to be the proceeds of the illicit activity. The owners of 4 bars and amusement arcades and the owner of a concessionary company for the supply and installation of slot machines have been reported in a state of freedom to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Agrigento for aggravated fraud against the State, computer fraud, embezzlement and interception, impediment and illicit interruption of computer and telematic communications. Furthermore, administrative fines totaling 300,000 euros were imposed.
