Two fire brigade officials acquitted, while 13 people go to trial for the hypothesis of the crime of «culpable disaster» for the skyscraper fire Moro Tower in via Antonini 32, a fire in which only by miracle and due to the skill and courage of the firefighters on 29 August 2021 there were no deaths but “only”ruins of 26 apartmentsthe destruction of 13 cars and the hasty escape of the condominiums while from the facades in an apocalyptic scene they flew up to 50 meters high above 1,400 fiery panels.

The bulk of the investigation by prosecutor Marina Petruzzella revolved around the Larsen PE panels with a polyethylene core between two sheets of aluminum, used to cover the building. And judge Ileana Ramundo ordered the trial on September 30 for the legal representative of the
Spanish manufacturer Alucoil, Teodoro Martinez Lopezand the foreign sales manager Borja Curruca Ybbarratogether with the Italian partner Giordano Cantori (of Cantori Alluminio srl of Osimo) and to the “facade” subcontractor Ettore Zambonini. Also on trial is the legal representative of the Polo srl company that commissioned the construction of the building, Stefania Grunzweig (with the fire prevention professional Giampaolo Leoni), and – after the death of the legal representative of the Moro Costruzioni spa company that built the building, Roberto Moro – for the seller of the apartments Alberto Moro.

Among the four people acquitted by the judge, the official of the firefighters Luciano Propana, who was accused by the prosecutor of having issued the fire prevention certificate in 2011, following an “incomplete” inspection; and his superior Mario Abate, who according to the Prosecutor’s Office “had endorsed it” by signing and certifying compliance with the legislation. The ninety-year-old surveyor was also immediately acquitted with the two firefighters Crescenzio Panico and an employee of Zambonini, Giacomo Passera.
