Saturday 15 June at 9.30 am vguided tour of the widespread Museum of Quarries and Stone Aurisina. Ssecond appointment with the Via della Pietra n.1 in Aurisina, an itinerary among the stone extraction basins of the Karst. The itinerary, flat on dirt and asphalt roads, will take you from the Ivere area to the karst edge, to enjoy the spectacle of the Gulf from a special observation point. Tuesday 25 June at 9.30 am guided tour of Aquileia. Ua 360° experience along an archaeological and historical itinerary during which, with the help of an authorized FVG guide, space will also be given to the materials that have made the site of Aquileia famous, among which the Stone of Aurisina. In addition to the Basilica Complex with its crypts and main rooms, there will be modor to explore the ruins of the Roman city, the decumanus of “Aratria Galla”, located near the Forum which represented, in all its monumentality, the heart of the city and the port docks. The decumanus of Aratria Galla, currently visible from Via Giulia Augusta, the entrance road to Aquileia which cuts through the Forum and follows the course of the cardo maximus of the Roman city, was brought to light in the 1970s for a stretch of around one hundred meters. Finally, let’s not forget to visit the Heroes’ Cemetery. The guided tours in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste and the Municipality of Aquileia are managed by the PerCarso Association and NET Srls. Discovering the stone on which and with which Trieste was built: its rocky soul, its rough and harsh “surly grace” is reflected in the stone that dresses it. During the walk we will walk in the centre, along the banks and the old city in search of geological and landscape details that will help us decipher the Trieste of the past and the natural context in which it arose.
