Milan – Closed the investigation for the death of Karl Nasrthe 18 year old Lebanese boyI was hit and crushed against a pole by an Audi ended up on the pavement after the crash and collision with another car, a Renault Captur. It was August 2023, semi-central eastern belt of Milan. Nine months later, the notice of the conclusions of the investigation was served: both drivers are under investigation for negligent cooperation for vehicular homicide. A prohibited maneuver by the woman and high speed (71 per hour against the mandatory 50) are accused of the man who then crushed the boy causing his death.

The woman AR, resident in Italy but of Egyptian origins, at the wheel of Renault, had completed a U-turn while the man, FC, driving the Audi Rs7 had not moderated his speed near the intersection between via Colletta and viale Umbria. For the prosecutor’s experts, appointed by the prosecutor Antonio Cristillo to analyze the dynamics, when the Audi was “touched” by Renault, all the control systems in the large-displacement car were activated which immediately allowed it to block the driving: unfortunately the blow resulting from the collision moved the luxury car right in the direction of the pole in front of which the very unfortunate Karl was passing.

Still according to what was established by the experts, however, if Audi had moderate the speed maybe he could have avoid coincidence of impact with the passage of the young man. The woman driving the Renault was traveling at a very low speed, but to make the prohibited U-turn she occupied the road, giving rise to the “chain reaction”.

To rebuild what happened there is also the outcome of the autopsy and the kinematic assessment, while the images from the cameras of a building near the site of the accident were viewed and allowed us to complete the reconstruction of the dynamics. Both suspects, she is 38 years old and he is 51, for whom the indictment will be requested, tested negative for alcohol, and the results of the toxicological tests were also negative. The investigation has continued in recent months with all the findings necessary to reconstruct the precise dynamics of the accident and to establish the actual responsibilities of the two drivers of the cars involved in the collision.

Karl Nasr he was walking with his parents (his father Michel, 57 years old, his mother Carla, 52) when the Audi suddenly hit him, crushing him and causing fatal injuries. Transported under code red to Niguarda, where he had undergone a long surgical operation, the young man died the following morning. The parents of the 18-year-old, Lebanese with a Canadian passport, were also taken to the emergency room, both suffering from illness after witnessing the scene of their son’s death. Karl’s mother had also suffered a shoulder fracture. However, with a twenty-day prognosis, the woman driving the Renault was discharged from the hospital.

Karlito as his friends called him, was just been admitted to the American University of Beirut to study Biology and then Medicine, in the footsteps of his older brother Elias. Every summer since 2016, he has chosen to visit Milan, his favorite city. He loved Italian culture, his art, his cuisine. On a tragic summer day, August 1, 2023, the Nasr family was headed on foot to a museum in the Brera area. It was 1.30pm on a Tuesday, the intersection of via Colletta and viale Umbria.
