In the evocative landscape of Barbagia di Seulo, Esterzili is preparing to immerse herself in the celebration dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, with a program full of events organized with passion by the thirty-year-olds of the town, supported by friends from 1992 and 1993.
The religious celebrations began on June 1st with the solemn thirteen in honor of the Saint. Today, the atmosphere was filled with devotion when Sant’Antonio was carried in procession from the historic church of Sant’Ignazio to his picturesque country church, accompanied by the melodies of the launeddas played by Jonathan Della Marianna. On Saturday, at 6pm, the Saint is expected to return to the parish church, accompanied by the local folk group “Sant’Antoni ‘e su fogu” and once again by Della Marianna’s launeddas.
But it is not only spirituality that guides the events: the festive program also reserves space for music and culture. On Saturday evening, starting from 10pm, the central square of Esterzili will be transformed into a stage for the Collage concert, followed by the performance of Pippo Palmieri, well-known protagonist of the 105 Zoo, and by an engaging DJ set with Valentino Poddie who will will last until the first light of dawn.
Sunday will culminate with the traditional Logudorese poetic competition in the square, where the verses of Saverio Sodde and Giovanni Carta, accompanied by the tenor of Sorgono, will give life to an atmosphere of authentic celebration of local culture and tradition. This event not only represents an important manifestation of faith and culture for the community but also a moment of aggregation and celebration for all participants, who will be able to immerse themselves in the beauty and hospitality of the people of Esterzile.
