On Monday 10 June at The Sidney Hotel in Bologna, on the occasion of the closing meeting of the 2023/2024 Lions year, the traditional award ceremony of the “Golden Nettuno Award” Lions Club Bologna Ets took place, now in its 53rd year.to edition.
The Award Committee, which since 1971 has regularly awarded the prestigious award to leading figures of the Italian cultural and artistic panorama such as Enzo Biagi, Pupi Avati, Lucio Dalla, Carlo Lucarelli And Stefano Accorsidecreed the writer and screenwriter “Bolognese artist of the year”. Matteo Bortolotti (https://www.matteobortolotti.it/), born in 1980, defined as “the writer in crime” after his long participation in TV programs Life live on RaiUno e Italy on 2 on RaiDue, in the role of commentator on crime and criminal news. Matteo received the coveted statuette from Alberico Colasantepresident of the Lions Club Bologna Ets.
Bortolotti, who made his debut as a noir and mystery writer at just 18 years old, has over a dozen publications with the main Italian publishers, including Mondadori (This is my blood2005, selected by Oscar winner Gabriele Salvatores for his series Colorado Noir).
At the age of 26 he was a screenwriter for the Rai TV series Inspector Coliandro together with Carlo Lucarelli and wrote the screenplay of the American film set in Bologna AmeriQua (2013) whose protagonist and co-author was Robert Kennedy’s nephew: Bobby Kennedy III. Next to him are the actors Alessandra Mastronardi and Giancarlo Giannini. But on that same occasion Bortolotti also supported Lucio Dalla, who scored the film’s soundtrack.
«I come last, after a long series of extraordinary artists and intellectuals whose list is intimidating – states Bortolotti excitedly – Some of them I can even call friends and that makes me realize how lucky I was. I will only mention a few that I have come close to in my career such as Enzo Biagi, Enrico Brizzi, Stefano Accorsi, Giorgio Diritti, Silvia Avallone, and then friends and colleagues such as Nino Migliori, Pupi Avati, Lucio Dalla, Cristiano Cremonini, Simona Vinci, Carlo Lucarelli. I think about it, about this thing that the Bologna where I come from was a ferment, a great mother dough that was leavening in the name of a word that has become increasingly empty in the world of social trends, repeated at the infinite pace of a tap or a click : authenticity.
