Entertainment: Morgan guest at Chiambretti: Sanremo, death, arguments

Morgan

The singer-songwriter addresses all the hot topics that have involved him in recent years, from the Sanremo Festival to X Factor and the controversy with Bugo.

Last evening, Tuesday 11 June, Morgan appeared as a guest of Piero Chiambretti on the show «Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown» broadcast on Rai3.

During the episode, the singer-songwriter spoke about several recent episodes of his career, including his dismissal from the X Factor jury for “inappropriate behavior”, the famous argument with Bugo at the Sanremo Festival, and his reflections on death.

During the interview with Chiambretti, Morgan touched on numerous topics, including religion and the criticisms received from the writer Aldo Nove: «Morgan is a philosopher who acts as a glamorous singer who imitates a comedian disguised as a scientist», to which Morgan replied promptly: «It’s a phrase from a petrol station attendant disguised as a writer. Joke. He is a great writer, a pulp writer, one of those who prefers Orietta Berti to Jovanotti to provoke, he didn’t understand my poetic gesture with Bugo in Sanremo.” Regarding the famous 2020 argument on the Ariston stage, Morgan declared: «Crime? I told Bugo that he ruined Endrigo’s song. Justice will decide, but I say it is absurd. If I can’t afford to say that he sang badly, I won 5 musical talents… The court is like a stage, I was very excited. Bugo and I were friends, I respected him and I respect him as a songwriter. He started treating me badly, he went to Sanremo exploiting me, then once there he tried to eliminate Morgan. The song? He sang it all but he shouldn’t have. They all agreed, I was the only idiot who didn’t know that he would sing the whole piece.”

Continuing on the Sanremo theme, Morgan responded to a provocation from Chiambretti regarding his possible role at the Sanremo Festival: «You have said several times that if Italy asked you, you would be ready to host the festival…», and Morgan he replied: «The public wants it. My project: make beautiful music, choose songs but not like now when we pretend, then let everyone participate and not just those with contracts. Being musicians doesn’t mean making records. Radios suck. There are no longer what they used to be. Social? Social media are the new Nazis.”

Finally, Morgan shared his thoughts on how he would like to die: «How I die isn’t important, what you’re doing is. I would like to die while playing Beethoven.”
