With an improvised torch he set fire to his parents’ house, setting a fire who quickly destroyed the house and killed the mother (and not her sister, as we learned at first), who died following the burns she suffered, and reduced the woman’s husband and two children, brothers of the man who caused the fire and then disappeared.
The fire
To set fire last night to Victory, in the Ragusa area, was apparently a man originally from Tunisia with mental problems who fled and is currently wanted by the police. The person responsible apparently started the fire due to an altercation with his family members, piling up tires in front of the house and then setting them on fire. The fire was started using a torch with a rag soaked in flammable liquid.
Two very serious children
The injured were transported to hospitals in Ragusa and Vittoria. In these hours they could be transferred to the «Cannizzaro» hospital in Catania due to the seriousness of their conditions. The fire broke out around 2.30 am in a small house, in Piazza dell’Unità, a few meters from the former small church of the Trinity, now deconsecrated, which gives its name to the neighborhood of the same name, one of the oldest in the city. The flames were put out by firefighters who are now investigating the causes of the fire. The property was destroyed.
