Coach Devis Cagnardi’s comments in the press conference after the fourth match of the series between Acqua S.Bernardo Cantù and Trieste.

“I won’t make any comments on today’s match, other than congratulating Trieste on their well-deserved promotion. It’s clear that this is the final act for us, so I still wanted to thank my players because, despite the difficulties, we tried to make the match our own. We didn’t succeed thanks to our opponents, certainly also to our own demerit because we had less energy than in Trieste. However, I would like to thank all my players for the effort they made. I want to thank our fans, who were once again present despite it being a midweek day and being very far away. Throughout the year they made us feel our warmth and I want to thank them. I want to thank the staff, Mattia Costacurta, Tommaso Sacchetti and Luciano D’Ancicco, for the difficult season. I thank the medical staff who have always been close to us, it would be long to list them all. I thank the club: the president Roberto Allievi, who has always been at our side and also in this away match, the GM Santoro and the DS Frates, who never failed to make me feel his support and give me his advice. It’s been a long season. We had the goal of trying to win this championship, there were many teams who wanted to try. We have reached the final act, we are clearly not happy with how it ended because the ambition and will was different. We have to give credit to the opponents we have faced in this series. It’s been a long and not easy season, but we tried to stay on track. We have faced several moments of difficulty right from the start, but we have always managed to overcome them with the strength of the group and the organization of this company. Unfortunately, partly due to Riccardo’s absence, but I don’t want to appeal to this, Trieste has shown that it has something more. We will return to Cantù, we will try to look back to understand where the mistakes were made and try to improve. But we must also try, with awareness, to take what good has been done, because it was a season where we also did some good and it is right that my players know that they faced it with great dignity. He deserves credit and credit for that.”
