CERNUSCO SUL NAVIGLIO – Flooded garages and cellars, provincial and municipal roads reduced to swimming pools, even underpasses, infiltrations into schools and public buildings: a brutal night in the Martesana ‘scourged’ the other night by a water bomb. There were dozens and dozens of calls to the firefighters, who intervened, like the Civil Protection, in many particularly critical areas. The next day the alarm returned, with a “repeat”, but under control until the evening, late yesterday afternoon. In the morning the checks of the technical teams had verified the situation in schools and public buildings, with some thumbs down.

The “manhole collapse” and road flooding affected numerous towns. Not excluded Bellinzago Lombardo already devastated by the flood of last May 15th, where a river of water leaking from the manholes invaded the central Via Roma, frightening many citizens. “A problem – says the mayor Michele Avola – now chronic and aggravated by the severity of the weather phenomena. We are already tackling it, and we hope to be able to stem it”.
