This morning, on the provincial road 13 between Cisternino and Martina Franca, in the municipality of Brindisi, a serious road accident occurred involving two cars, causing injuries to two people.
For reasons still being investigated, a Seat Cordoba, driven by a woman from 1972 originally from Cisternino and probably headed towards Martina Franca, and an Audi A3, driven by a young woman from 1997 from Martina Franca, collided head-on.
From the aerial images we can see that the impact probably occurred in the overtaking lane. One of the cars ended up partially off the road, resting against the guardrail, a sign of a violent impact. Both cars are positioned in the center of the road, confirming the hypothesis of a head-on collision during an overtaking attempt.
The driver of the Seat Cordoba remained stuck between the sheets of metal, requiring the intervention of the firefighters of the Ostuni detachment to free her. Numerous emergency vehicles responded to the scene, including a fire truck, an ambulance and several police cars.
Both women, in serious condition, were rescued by 118 health workers and transported under code red to the Perrino hospital in Brindisi.
The woman from Cisternino, recently affected by the loss of her father, a well-known local entrepreneur, has a sister who, upon hearing the news of the accident, fell ill and was transported to the Ostuni emergency room for checks.
The Fire Brigade made the cars safe, cleaning up the electrical and fuel systems to avoid possible triggers. The Local Police of Cisternino carried out investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident. It also proceeded with the seizure of the vehicles to allow the experts to carry out further investigations. The Carabinieri collaborated to guarantee traffic, temporarily closing the provincial road to allow rescue operations and the removal of vehicles.
The aerial images clearly show the extent of the accident and the readiness of the rescue operations, highlighting effective management of the scene by the competent authorities.
