Hard-working Tuscans, capable of generating every day 104.3 euros Of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) each for a total wealth of 382 million of euros per day at a regional level: the research office of the CGIA of Mestre investigated the productivity of each inhabitant at a national and territorial level based on Prometeia data.
Tuscany ranks ninth in Italy in terms of GDP per inhabitant per day, in a ranking headed by Trentino Alto Adige (146 euros per citizen of GDP per day), Lombardy (131.8) e Valle d’Aosta (130.1). In the table below here are all the placings.
The protagonists in the generation of wealth are the small and medium-sized enterprisesin Tuscany historically weft and warp of the economic and productive fabric but increasingly gaining ground also at a national level to the detriment of large industries: “Italy no longer has very large companies and multinationalsbut is characterized by a production system composed almost exclusively of micro and SMEs with high work intensity”, record the experts of the Mestre CGIA.

As for daily productivity per head by provincial area, here is how the various territories in Tuscany compare to the Italian scenario, where there is a daily average of 210.6 euros per capita. Below is the classification with national positioning and daily productivity for equivalent full-time work units:

- 21° Florence – 220.4 euros per day per work unit
- 31st Lucca – 216.2 euros per day per work unit
- 47° Pistoia – 202.8 euros per day per work unit
- 51° Massa-Carrara – 198.9 euros per day per work unit
- 55° Arezzo – 195.2 euros per day per work unit
- 66° Siena – 187.6 euros per day per work unit
- 69° Prato – 182.5 euros per day per work unit
- 79° Grosseto – 171.5 euros per day per work unit
