The image of Albachiara takes shape and is portrayed in a coin: The Ministry
of Economy and Finance and the State Printing and Mint Institute pay homage to the iconic
song by Vasco Rossi
The coin inaugurates the new series of the numismatic collection dedicated to Italian music
Rome, 10 June 2024 – In the 2024 Numismatic Collection the verses of the songs that have
made the history of Italian music become coins. The first of the series entitled “Songs
Italian”, pays homage to the famous song “Albachiara” by Vasco Rossi.
The coin celebrates not only the song, but also its cultural impact, highlighting how
“Albachiara” has marked several generations since its debut in 1979.
On the obverse the coin represents a vinyl record which shows the lyrics of the song in the centre
«Albachiara», composed by the singer-songwriter Vasco Rossi and published in 1979. Inside, the writing
“Italian republic”; in the exergue, the author’s signature «Petrassi».

On the reverse in the foreground a young girl portrayed holding books while eating
an Apple. On the right, in an arch, the writing «Albachiara» and «R», identifying the Mint of Rome;
on the left «2024», year of issue of the coin, and the value, «5 Euro».
The collector’s coin, with a nominal value of 5 euros, was minted in the Fior di version
minted and in rhodium-plated silver, with a circulation of 10,000 copies.

of the Italian Republic are published on the portal http://www.shop.ipzs.it
European citizens can also register and purchase coins from the Collection and all
other products of the Poligrafico and Zecca dello Stato. Coins are also available for purchase
at the shop in Piazza Verdi, 1 and at the Mint museum located in via Salaria, 712 after
reservation for access on the museozecca.ipzs.it/ website.
