Toyota, but which electric one: here is the solution from the Japanese company that goes against the grain

Toyota has never been a big fan of electrics, and now the confirmation has arrived. The Japanese giant has unveiled new engines.

The brand Toyota faces a period of ups and downs, because, if on the one hand sales have returned to very high levels, on the other, the production of three models was suspended due to some irregularities in the certification data of these cars. Some similar problems have affected other brands such as Mazda, Suzuki And Yamaha. However, the house from the Rising Sun continues on its path linked to engines, not bowing to the logic of electric.

On this topic, the President, Akio Toyoda, has always been very clear, stating that BEVs, even when the technologies are more refined, will never exceed 30% in terms of market share. For this reason, Toyota continues the development of combustion engines, and announced the production of four new types of engines. Let’s see what exactly it is.

Toyota, new combustion engines are arriving

On the part of the Toyota a clear response to electric is coming, with four new ICE engines ready to debut. The Chief Technology Officer of the Japanese giant, Hiroki Nakajima, made it known that these are completely different engines from the past, reiterating that these are 1.5 and 2.0 liter units. According to what has emerged, these new propulsion units will make their debut in 2027, and are designed not only to be powered by traditional fuels, i.e. diesel and petrol, but also with bio-fuels, hydrogen and even with synthetic components, so to give new life to the combustion engine.

The work is based on achieving notable thermal efficiency, and a few years ago, the Japanese company had already reached 40% on this front. According to Nakajima, Toyota’s new engines will have shorter stroke-level pistons, and the goal is to make them even smaller. In this way, these in-line engines will allow optimization of the package of the cars that will fit them.

Furthermore, this will allow the front part of the cars to be lowered, in order to optimize the efficiency of the air flow, allowing better performance and a reduction in consumption. The torque will decrease, but in response, the engine will compensate with an instant response from the electrical part. Obviously, these will be hybrid engines, a technology in which this brand has always believed a lot.
