FVG – The Civil Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulia has issued a yellow level weather alert for all areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The warning is valid from 18:00 on 10/06/2024 to 14:00 on 11/06/2024 for intense rain, locally very intense and strong thunderstorms, locally very strong, which could cause inconvenience and potential dangers for the population and infrastructure.
Precipitation could be accompanied by strong gusts of wind and local hailstorms. The areas most affected will be the mountain and foothill areas, but even the coastal areas will not be exempt from storm phenomena.
A first taste of the disturbance occurred this morning in Trieste, where a strong storm with hail hit which caused flooding in some streets in the centre, in the Piazza Libertà underpass and in Via Locchi. Traffic disruptions were created.
A problem also linked to the manholes which were unable to drain the water immediately.
The firefighters of the territorial command, between 8 and 10.30, completed 25 rescue interventions due to bad weather.
Situation
The gradual approach of an Atlantic trough of depression will favor the influx of humid and progressively cooler southwestern currents.
Between Monday and Wednesday, numerous fronts will pass which will maintain widespread instability.
From Thursday afternoon, drier and more stable air masses will flow in.
Forecasts
Monday 10 June and Tuesday 11 June: Scattered showers and thunderstorms on Monday afternoon, which will initially be more likely towards the mountain area. From the evening until Tuesday morning, thunderstorms could be strong, with possible locally intense stationary rain on the Udine plain, Isonzo and the coast.
Trend for the following days: From Tuesday afternoon until Thursday the weather will remain unstable. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will therefore still be probable, especially in the mountainous area and the eastern area, with moderate to heavy rainfall.
