European elections, Decaro record which drags the Democratic Party and surpasses Fratelli d’Italia in the South

At the European elections, the Democratic Party has never been as strong as it is today in the South. It is the first party with 24.58% of the votes, followed by the Brothers of Italy with 24 percent. In third place in the South is the 5 Star Movement with 16.7 percent followed by Forza Italia with 10.7 percent, the League with 6.8, then the Green Alliance and the Left with 5.6, and United States of Europe with 4.8. Share stops at 3.3 percent.

In Puglia, Forza Italia wins in Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce but in Bari the Democratic Party, led by Decaro, soars above 45 percent. The province of Foggia is for his fellow countryman Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Cinquestelle, the first party with Italian brothers.

The former mayor of Bari Antonio Decaro breaks through the 500 thousand preferences, 350 thousand in Puglia alone, of which just under 200 thousand come from his city. But Decaro is also first in Basilicata (22 thousand votes), even if the first party is the Brothers of Italy with the best result in Lucanian history. Then the Democratic Party with 23.1% and the M5S with 12.7%. The Lucanian result of Action is also significant, which, driven by the candidate Marcello Pittella, reached 9.2%, but the former president of the Region and current regional councilor will not be elected to the European Parliament due to failure to exceed the 4% threshold at national. No Lucanian will therefore go to the European Parliament.
