Brothers of Italy in front, almost 30%, the PD above 20, the League above 10%, the 5 Star Movement around 9. These are the first results of the European Championships in the province of Pesaro-Urbino (around midnight and a half yesterday). Certainly partial but which give a hint of a trend. As expected, therefore, Giorgia Meloni’s party runs, but we will have to see what percentage it will reach and how much distance the Democratic Party will keep.

Today, in the morning, we will know not only the final data of the parties, but also the preferences of the candidates running for Brussels: needless to say that there is great attention for the results of Matteo Ricci, who yesterday started immediately strong, third behind Schlein and Nardella, ahead of Zingaretti. Then there’s Alessia Morani, still on the Democratic Party front, Mirco Carloni for the League, Massimo Seri for Action.

What is certain is that turnout in the province of Pesaro-Urbino is decreasing after voting on Saturday and Sunday: almost 5% less than in 2018. Things are even worse in Pesaro city: at the municipal elections, last night at 23, had voted 62.99% against 69.41% five years ago: seven points less. Less pronounced decline in Fano: 62.37% against 66.64%.

Curiosity: Pesaro and Fano started exactly on par on Saturday: 18.92% of voters at 11pm, after the first half day. Then the capital, yesterday, had taken a slight advantage in the first survey, that of midday: 34.93% against 32.85%. An advantage which he then maintained at 7pm (54.62% against 52.69%), before the Fano comeback which led to a substantial draw. Urbino did better, right from the start, with this sequence: 25.09%, 39.08% and 61.48, 70.98%. Very high, although also lower than 5 years ago in this case.

But the prize for the best goes to Carpegna, largely in the lead since Saturday with 32.31%, which became 49.93% at midday yesterday, 72.17% at 7pm, even 81.64% at 11pm. And Carpegna even goes against the trend, increasing turnout compared to 2019.

Today from 2pm the counting will begin in the 38 municipalities of the province called to elect the mayor. Only in three – Pesaro, Fano and Urbino – there is the possibility of a run-off if no candidate exceeds 50% plus one of the valid votes. For everyone else, we will know the verdict by mid-afternoon today. In the 15 Municipalities where there was a single candidate (see report on the right), the verdict was practically already clear at 7pm yesterday, when everyone had exceeded the necessary quorum, i.e. the vote of 40% of those entitled to vote. It will now be enough for 50% of the votes to be valid for the mayors without competitors to be elected.

Today you can follow the results live on our website: www.ilrestodelcarlino.it/pesaro.
