A tragic road accident occurred this afternoon – Sunday 9 June 2024 – along via Ariana, provincial road 600, between the municipalities of Lariano and Velletri, in the stretch between via Redina Ricci and via Arcioni, in the territory of the municipality of Lariano.
In the accident, an 86-year-old man, born in 1938, died; he was a resident of Paliano.
Several vehicles were involved in the accident: a Fiat Panda, a Jeep Renegade and a Mercedes. One of the cars ended up on top of another, sliding into the ditch, with tragic results for the Paliano driver
The Ares 118 operators immediately rushed to the scene on board an ambulance, a medical vehicle and two patrols of the Carabinieri from the Lariano station and the Velletri Radiomobile Unit, as well as the Fire Brigade, called to extract the victim and injured by the twisted sheets of metal.
To allow the rescuers to intervene and the Carabinieri to proceed with the investigations, traffic was blocked in both directions and diverted onto alternative roads, awaiting the instructions of the medical examiner. Still to be clarified, the dynamics of the accident are still being investigated.
The body of the deceased man, whose identity was confirmed by the military, was covered with a yellow cloth awaiting orders from the magistrate on duty.
It is not excluded that the accident could have been caused by an illness.
