The shooting world cup finals in Lonato del Garda open with a silver for Italy: Daniele Resca won it in the men’s trap competition.

Silver in the trap, just two points away from gold: beaten 47-45 by the British Matthew John Coward-Holley, Daniele Resca therefore came close to victory on the first day of the finals of the clay shooting world cup underway in Lonato Del Garda. Behind him was the Chinese Yu Haicheng, bronze with 34. The other Italians were very far from reaching the final: Diego Valeri finished the qualifications thirty-eighth, Massimo Fabbrizi sixty-sixth (Emmanuele Iezzi and Gianmarco Barletta were only shooting for the ranking).

No medals in the women’s race however. Closest of all was Silvana Stanco, but obviously her fifth place (the race was won by the Slovakian Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova; silver for the Spanish Fatima Galvez, beaten 45-41; bronze for the Australian Catherine Skinner) was not enough; tenth Maria Lucia Palmitessa.

The next finals, the skeet ones, are scheduled for Monday 17th: the men will shoot first (3pm), then the women (4.30pm).
