The city of Ragusa was dismayed. On social media there is an increasing number of expressions of condolence towards the couple who lost their lives in the tragic accident last night which also caused one person to be seriously injured. The episode occurred around 1 am along the Ragusa-Modica road via Ponte Costanzo. At the overpass before the bridge a car and a motorbike collided (in the photo). The two motorcyclists, spouses from Ragusa, died, while the motorist who was traveling in the car, a 28-year-old woman from Modica, was seriously injured. The latter finds herself hospitalized in code red at the Giovanni Paolo II hospital in Ragusa. The accident was head-on. The bodies of the two motorcyclists, both from Ragusa, were transferred to the morgue of the Maria Paternò Arezzo hospital. We are awaiting the magistrate’s decisions for the delivery of the bodies to the families and the consequent determination linked to the day and place where the funeral will be held. Giovanni Cascone and Angela Polizzi, known to all as Giusy, were well known in the city. The couple had spent Saturday evening in Scicli and were returning home to Ragusa. “The Puntarazzi community mourns two true and sincere friends: Gianni Cascone and his wife Giusy – as stated in a statement released on social media – As of tonight they are no longer with us. A terrible accident took them away tonight, depriving the two children of their two beloved parents. The Puntarazzi community loses two pillars. Gianni is well known in the city, but also outside Ragusa, for being a musician of great caliber as well as a “Friend” of those with a capital A. Always ready to do his part for the community and for all the districts. Our heartfelt condolences and an affectionate hug that cannot replace that of their parents but shows how much we love them go to the two children who are experiencing this tragedy today, which takes their parents away.”
