International “City of Wine” competition, five Ligurian labels awarded

There are five Ligurian labels that take home the gold medal of the 22nd edition of the international wine competition Città del Vino and Grappa Award which saw the participation of over 1,300 participating wine samples, of which 80% Italian and 20 % from 11 countries around the world.

From our region, the Federici agricultural company from Luni (La Spezia) received the award with the Pian del Fico and the Rosato Liguria di Levante Prima Brezza, the Lunae Bosoni cellars also from Luni with the Cuvee Lunae Brut, the Enrico agricultural company Dario di Maria Clara Enrico from Albenga (Savona) with the Pigato Doc Riviera Ligure di Ponente and finally the Dell’Erba agricultural company, also from Albenga, with the Pigato Riviera Ligure di Ponente

The selections took place in recent days in Gorizia, in the historic centre. The awards ceremony will be held in Rome at the Campidoglio on 8 July.

“An important edition of the Città del Vino international competition, now in its 22nd edition – highlights the president of Città del Vino, Angelo Radica – which is confirmed for the quality of the winemaking territories and productions and for attracting wine companies from all over the world. I would like to highlight the excellent performances of new participating countries such as Lebanon and Israel and the good participation of Chile and Mexico, also participating for the first time. Successes for Italian wines, from the north, center and south: in the selections of Città del Vino the merit of evaluating the wines not only from a technical point of view (for their objective quality), but above all for their link with the territory, for their ability to excite and to reiterate the value of the relationship between companies and municipalities. Being a City of Wine is an added value for wineries throughout Italy.”
