LIDO – While the public prosecutor Stefano Buccini is starting to examine the documentation of theinvestigation opened by the Prosecutor’s Office (at the moment there are no suspects nor a hypothesis of a crime), on the Lido from today the collection of signatures comes alive, also in memory and in memory of Elettra and Mattia, the two children who died on the Lido in the last six monthsto ask the Region for a strengthening of health services, particularly in the summer period. Today, 7 June, from 10am to 5pm there will be a gazebo in Piazzetta Lepanto for the collection of signatures. You can also sign later in many shops and public establishments on the Lido. The promoters of the mobilization, which municipal councilor Angelo Sabato joined as its first promoter, are divided into two points. The first request is to have a first aid efficiency point with an adequate resuscitation department at the former Lido seaside hospital. Then it is requested an air rescue activity with a vehicle that is permanently stationed at the Nicelli airport in San Nicolò. Especially in the summer period when the number of tourists increases on the Lido (and in general on the islands of the lagoon).

«The availability of the Nicelli airport managers to grant the area equipped for the take-off and landing of the helicopter has already been verified – Sabato points out. Everyone’s commitment is that we can intervene in a timely manner in order to reduce the risks as much as possible and ensure that tragedies like those of Mattia last December and now Elettra are not repeated. Regarding Elettra’s death, Ulss 3 Serenissima has also started an internal investigation. Citizens’ requests clash with the rules. To activate an emergency room, there must be a hospital behind it, which is no longer the case on the Lido. Here is the proposal to involve the San Camillo degli Alberoni hospital, which operates with inpatient departments. The proposal was welcomed by the president of the municipality of Lido and Pellestrina, Emilio Guberti. “Health planning is up to the Region – he stated – but, in synergy with the former seaside hospital, an emergency room at San Camillo would guarantee two health centers at the two ends of the island”.
