Bassano Romano – Death of Giorgio Calcagni, mayor Maggi: “It will be citizen mourning”

BASSANO ROMANO – The two communities of Capranica and Bassano continue to mourn the terrible and premature death of Giorgio Calcagni. In particular, today the mayor of Bassano Romano Emanuele Maggi intervened with a long writing announcing the city’s mourning on the day of his funeral.

“In these days the community is shaken by the passing of a father, a boy, a companion for everyone, on and off the pitch. It is indigestible to imagine how Giorgio’s smile, kindness and cheerfulness were torn away from the affection of his family, loved ones and friends by a fatal and tragic accident at work. There are no comforting words in the face of a death as painful as it is sudden; a good boy, a family man who leaves home in the morning never to return. This death leaves in each of us an incredible sense of the unpredictability of life, which should lead us to appreciate every moment we live with greater awareness. Originally from Capranica, he had lived with his family in Bassano Romano for many years now. Two shaken communities embracing each other in pain. A touching thought and a huge hug to his wife Silvia, his daughter Nicole and their families. As soon as we have news of the date of the funeral we will proclaim city mourning, as a sign of condolence for an entire country, certain that Giorgio will be looking down on us, smiling as always and with the ball under his arm. Have a safe trip Gio!”.
