Genoa. The resources allocated by the Regional Council, on the proposal of the Councilor for Training Marco Scajola, to finance new Higher Technological Education (ITS) courses amount to 2.5 million euros.

The resources, from the European Social Fund+ 2021/2027, have the aim of strengthening and expanding high professional training which, in Liguria, for over 90% of students is synonymous with work once the courses have finished.

The aforementioned 2.5 million euros will be added to the over 20.4 deriving from the Pnrr for the three-year period 2023/2026 and the approximately 1.4 deriving from the national fund dedicated to ITS. In total, therefore, the six Its Academies in Liguria will have around 10.8 million euros available for the current year alone.

«Our ITS represent excellence at an Italian level, despite this the declared desire has always been to not stop and continue to improve where we have found deficiencies – declares the regional councilor for Training Marco Scajola -. With these funds we want to strengthen and expand our paths, but above all to convince more and more people of the quality of the education provided by ITS. Over 90% of those who finish the academies find work in Liguria and all courses enjoy constant interest from the business world. We are convinced that we can further increase this percentage and thanks to the resources of the ESF, approved today, the extraordinary resources of the Pnrr and those of the National Fund, which we will shortly bring to the Council, we will give unprecedented economic coverage to the ITS”.

In detail, with the 2.5 million euros allocated, an invitation is officially opened, addressed to the 6 academies present in Liguria, to present ITS courses. The aim is to be able to finance at least eight new ones by introducing 180 young people into the training system.

These are the specific objectives of the notice: to ensure greater stability and quality of the superior technological training offer; enhance and innovate the training offer of Its Academy; ensure an ever greater connection and correspondence with the research and innovation needs expressed by companies; allow people, young people but also adults, to obtain highly qualified and specialized skills as well as enabling them for a constantly changing world of work; support and facilitate the transition of young people from education to the world of work through the acquisition of concrete experiences and a wealth of knowledge that is immediately recognizable and usable in productive environments; guarantee an offer of non-university tertiary training capable, therefore, of providing coverage of needs throughout the Ligurian territory both in terms of presence in the various areas and based on the needs of the significant economic and professional sectors of the Region.
