The Para-Trap World Championship ends with Italy on the world podium three times. The medals went to Gabriele Nanni and Mirko Cafaggi, respectively gold and bronze both in the PT3 functional classification, and Fabrizio Cormons, silver in the PT2.

Proceeding in order, the most important result came in the PT3 ranking, i.e. that of shooters with upper limb disabilities, Gabriele Nanni became World Champion thanks to a capital performance. Having closed the qualifications with a score of 108/125, the shooter from Fiamme Oro from Sala Bolognese (BO) faced the final with the firm intention of reaching the top of the podium. Target after target he easily passed all the preliminaries until reaching the direct clash for the Title with the Spaniard Adrian Becker Castillo. The two opponents did not hold back and, tied at the end of the regulation throws with a score of 36/50, continued the duel in the play-off. At this point the blue no longer made any mistakes and with +2 to +1 he deserved the gold and the title of World Champion. Also on the podium behind the Spaniard was Mirko Cafaggi from Faenza, bronze medal thanks to 106/125 in the qualifications and 25/40 in the final.

Seventh and narrowly out of the final is Calogero Sansone from Casanova Lerrone (SV) with 97/25.

Moving on to the PT2, i.e. shooters with disabilities in the lower limbs, as anticipated, our Fabrizio Cormons deserved the silver medal. Having entered the final with a score of 112/125, the representative of the Fiamme Oro of San Felice Circeo (LT) faced the decisive series with determination and grit. Having passed all the preliminaries, he dueled with the Slovakian Filip Marino for the gold and silver, deserving the second place with 40/50 behind his opponent, who graduated World Champion with 43/50.

Saverio Cuciti from Forte dei Marmi (LU) also reached the final thanks to 109/125 in the qualifications, but his pursuit of the medals stopped at the foot of the podium with 24/35 and fourth position overall. Ninth Alessandro Spagnoli from Carrara (MS) with 103/125.

Among the PT1, or wheelchair shooters, Davide Fedrigucci (Fiamme Oro) from Urbino reached the final with 97/125, but his medal ambitions came to a halt in fifth place overall with 16/30. Tenth Emilio Poli from Gavardo (BS) with 88/125, thirteenth Fabrizio Menia from Forgaria del Friuli (UD) with 84/125 and nineteenth Maria Mirabile from Saponara (ME) with 51/125.

“I am really very satisfied with the performance of the whole team and I congratulate the three medalists – commented coach Benedetto Barberini – Placing five shooters in the final and arriving on the podium three times means having fought with great ability. Everyone, really everyone, gave their best. Well done!”
