NewTuscia – VITERBO – Round or not round, that is the question. The first day of testing the new road system around the San Lazzaro roundabout was characterized by traffic conditions under control.
The councilor allhe quality of urban spaces Emanuele Aronne makes no statements but quickly explains “that the morning went well, better than average”, with travel times from the Ipercoop roundabout to the fire brigade roundabout of 6 minutes and 43 seconds at 1pm, while at 6pm the travel time was 10 minutes and 27 seconds.
At 5 this morning Aronne was already with the roadmen to put up the barriers that prevent those arriving from Via della Palazzina from turning towards the cemetery and those coming from Cassia from going towards Via Villanova. There will be approximately thirty days of experimentation in relation to the urban sustainable mobility plan but, above all, the first act after years of complaints about traffic jams on the San Lazzaro roundabout and the sensational protest of Giovanni Faperdue in garrison since June 2023 which, then, he was suspended precisely because of the choice of councilor Aronne to get involved in the matter.
Aronne’s silence has the dual reason of concentrating “on the numbers”, as he has repeatedly reiterated, which will only come after at least a week of experimentation, and of avoiding easy controversies after the declarations of some political exponents including Andrea Micci who spoke of go on holiday rather than face the travel times of the entire stretch from Cassia to Ipercoop.
Giovanni Faperdue supports Aaron’s line and criticizes, indeed, those who define “Cassandra” before the actual results of the new road system are evaluated “which today has given positive effects – says Giovanni Faperdue – with sustained but flowing traffic and a foreseeable increase in flows at the fire brigade roundabout. Many have complained about the traffic jams: now that we are trying to find a potential solution, let’s avoid easy controversies.”
