GIARDINI NAXOS (ME) – The Strait python, with swordfish, aubergines, tomato, cheese, mint and pine nuts is the novelty that wins the first edition of ‘Naxos Street Fish’ food and more, organized by ‘Eventamente’ as a summer spin off within the ‘Messina Street Food Fest’ format created by Alberto Palella.
The recipe was proposed exclusively by the Pitoneria Portella of Messina and was rewarded by the very strong consensus it received among the visitors of the four days of gastronomy and culture that took place in the Ionian municipality.

On the podium, in second place, chef Onofrio from the ‘da Onofrio’ restaurant, with the sandwich filled with roasted squid. The chef of the Sicilian restaurant in Furci was recently awarded the 2024 Golden Arcimboldo.
Third place was Gabriele Fiumara, the best ice cream maker in Italy 2024, from the ‘Bar California’ in Santa Teresa di Riva who proposed his artisanal ice cream.
Special prizes went to ‘La Paciota’ bistrot, with an authentic Aeolian sandwich with swordfish, a company from Messina that participated in the event for the first time, and to Giuseppe Sullini ‘The King of meat’, for the work he is doing in these years on the quality of the meat, the street food proposals within the events and the diffusion of the American barbecue culture.
From the awards ceremony stage, the mayor of Giardini Naxos, Giorgio Stracuzzi, the councilors for Ports and Fisheries, Ivano Cantello, presented the awards; at Culture, Fulvia Toscano and Alberto Palella, administrator of ‘Eventually’.
The ‘Naxos Street Fish’ was organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Giardini Naxos and the patronage of the Sicilian Region – Regional Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, Regional Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, Park Archeologico Naxos Taormina, Confesercenti Messina and with the support of various partners.
