Exactly one year after the last price increase, Spotify has announced a new price increase for Premium subscriptions in the United States.

Starting in July, US users will have to pay an extra dollar a month for the individual plan, which will go to $11.99.

The increases for the Duo and Family plans are more significantwhich will rise to $16.99 and $19.99 per month, respectively, from $14.99 and $16.99 per month.

The news was communicated to American subscribers via email, with a message that underlines Spotify’s commitment to “continue to invest and innovate the product offering and features, to offer the best possible experience“.

The announcement inevitably turned the spotlight on the possibility of future increases in other countries too, including Italy. The last Italian increase occurred in July 2023 coinciding with Spotify’s global price increase.

Although there is currently no official communication on the matter, Spotify’s move in the United States raises doubts whether the company could adopt a similar strategy in other markets as well.

It remains to be seen whether, in the event of further increases, Spotify will introduce new features to enrich the listening experience and justify the rising prices. The wait for the Supremium plan, with lossless audio, continues.
