Mauro Santopietro, actor of the soap opera «Placement in the sun» and father in the well-known fishing commercial, risks ending up on trial for the death of a motorcyclist who crashed into his car which was parked illegally. The crime for which the indictment was requested for vehicular homicide.
The accident
The accident occurred on 28 September 2022 in via Aurelia Antica, near one of the entrances of Villa Pamphiljnear number 183. The victim, Riccardo Fortuna, 58 years old, married, entrepreneur. That morning two years ago, Santopietro had gone to the park in a friend’s Toyota to take a walk with his dog. He parks the car near number 183, where however there is a sign that signals prohibited parking. The actor gets out and enters. A few minutes later, Fortuna takes the Piaggio Beverly 400 scooter via Aurelia Antica. Unfortunately something makes it skid. He loses control of the motorcycle, which slides several meters on the road and ends up crash into the Toyota.
The prosecutor’s accusations
Of course there is a dose of bad luck for Santopietro, always involved in various social activities. Other cars that morning were parked illegally. However, the appearance is irrelevant according to the Prosecutor’s Office. The car the businessman crashes into is that of the actor. And that car shouldn’t have been there. The clash is very violent. The man suffers very serious injuries. The conditions are desperate: just at that moment an ambulance passes. The paramedics try to help him, to save him. There’s nothing to do. The lung injuries are too serious. Meanwhile the police are investigating. Raises a fine to the owner of thecar parked in a prohibited parking zone. But the problem is certainly not the fine.
The consultancy
How he rebuilds the prosecution’s advice, written by engineer Fabrizio Ceramponi, the impact with the machine is decisive. If Toyota hadn’t been there, the kind of injuries sustained by Fortuna – whose family members are assisted as civil parties by the lawyer Eduardo Auricchio – would have been different. Maybe less serious. Certainly those suffered in the impact are lethal injuries. Therefore the presence of the car parked by Santopietro, still very shaken by the incident, becomes the determining factor in the tragedy. But there is a sign that prohibits parking it at that point precisely for a matter of road safety. Too many cars piled up along the road could constitute a danger for those driving cars and motorbikes. As Fortuna’s tragic death demonstrates.
