THIENE – World karate champion killed by acute tonsillitis. This is how Loris Comparin died at the age of 46. He was 23 times Italian Champion, 3 times European Champion, 4 times World Champion and 2 times Intercontinental Champion in Karate, Kumite (Fighting) specialty. The athlete had been hospitalized for severe tonsillitis which then worsened into septicemia which led to his death after two weeks. Comparin, a resident of Arsiero who has always been active in Thiene, leaves behind his daughter Gloria, his father Oscar, his mother Giacomina, his sister Mara and his brother Nicola. He would have turned 47 on October 26th.
