Post flood, Forlì: the Romiti neighborhood asks for certainties on the safety of the territory

(Sixth Power) – Forlì – 1 June 2024 – The Romiti District of the city of Forlì is still asking for certainties on the intervention times for the “Fontana 2” water pump system by the Reclamation Consortium. The last week of intermittent rain has once again raised the alarm in the areas hit by the flood a year ago but not only.

“There were some small problems, but compared to the quantity of water that fell, things could have been worse – says the Coordinator of the Romiti neighbourhood, Stefano Valmori –. In some areas the water flowed more slowly: we got wet, but it wasn’t bad and it could have been worse. The Romiti territory has held, apart from a few situations. We have now understood that the sewers are clean, we have followed the checks carried out by the Municipality and the technicians, but what is actually the problem with the sewer system is that for some time it has no longer been adequate for the growth of the city and the ongoing climate changes. We should rethink a new sewerage system in the future, with important planning by the administrations that will be there. Also because last Saturday there was hail, with the wind causing leaves to fall and blocking manholes and drains: years ago there was the city roadman doing the cleaning work, we could rethink something similar involving also Alea Ambiente”.

“However, we as a neighborhood committee and as an area affected by the flood of May 2023 are more interested in the point of failure of the embankment in May 2023, which is the responsibility of the Reclamation Consortium, therefore in the area of the water pump called “Fontana 2″ of Via Martiri delle Foibe. From the Reclamation Consortium, with which we have always had a relationship of collaboration and mutual respect, it is also a duty to give an answer to the people and all the residents who are getting their homes and businesses back on their feet, specifying what will be done in the future and the times necessary for the safety and complete restoration of the Fontana 2 lock”: adds Stefano Valmori.

“It is the duty of the Reclamation Consortium to provide a planning and timetable for the works that still have to be carried out. However, remaining as a territory and as a Neighborhood Committee always available for any meetings on the matter and collaborative as we always have been”: concludes the Coordinator of the Romiti neighborhood, Stefano Valmori.
