For the prosecution, all of this translates into just two expressions: manslaughter and abandonment of incapable people.

The three defendants deny all charges. They have chose the path of trial to assert their reasons before the Court of Assizes of Monza.

The stepdaughter, in particular, underlined that she welcomed the elderly woman into her home to avoid her going to a retirement home. According to her version, the woman fell the day before her death and she refused to be transported to hospital. On the day of the accident, however, according to the stepdaughter’s version, the old woman was sitting in front of the television. She, having returned after going down to do the laundry, would have found her on the stairs and would have immediately raised the alarm to have the rescuers intervene urgently.
