The alarm went off shortly after ten o’clock yesterday morning when, during the usual checks in the area, the local police patrols noticed a cloud of very dense smoke coming from the Central Market, the structure inside the Termini station and overlooking on via Giolitti. Once they entered the market, the officers immediately noticed that one of the rooms was on fire.
THE INTERVENTION
In addition to calling the firefighters, the officers immediately isolated the area – making those present move away – to guarantee everyone’s safety and allow the intervention of emergency vehicles as quickly as possible. And so in a short time the firefighters managed to put out the flames, while several onlookers gathered in the area and wondered what was happening. Fortunately no one was injured and they were not even intoxicated. Thanks to the timely intervention of the emergency services, the worst was therefore avoided given that the Central Market is a place very popular with Romans and tourists and above all not far from the station platforms. However, there was considerable damage to the premises.

THE INVESTIGATIONS
Once the checks were completed, the situation returned to normal, without any particular repercussions. However, it remains to be understood what caused the flames. In fact, investigations are underway to reconstruct the causes of what happened and understand whether it was an arson fire or an accidental fire.
