A young girl was hit in the eye by the accidental explosion of a marble fired from a gas gun, causing a serious and permanent injury. The State Police has reported two boys involved in the accident at liberty. The incident occurred in Comiso.
The staff of the Comiso police station immediately started investigations after having intervened at the emergency room of the Vittoria hospital, where the victim had been transported in critical condition. The young woman had a noticeable injury to her eye, and was subjected to emergency surgery. Despite the efforts of doctors, the girl lost sight in the affected eye.
The investigations allowed the police officers to reconstruct the dynamics of the facts. The young woman was at the Ippari Park in Comiso in the company of friends, including a nineteen-year-old in possession of a freely available gas pistol. Due to an error in the use of the weapon, a marble was accidentally shot, hitting the girl in the face.
The responsibilities were ascertained and two boys were reported. A nineteen-year-old was held responsible for causing very serious and aggravated bodily harm, as well as illegal possession of a firearm. The second boy, eighteen years old, was reported for illegal possession of weapons pursuant to article 699 of the Penal Code.
The incident has raised concerns about the use and sale of gas weapons, even if they are freely available. archive photo
