Frightening turbulence caused the death of one person and 40 injuries (seven in serious condition) on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ321, which departed from London’s Heathrow airport and headed to the Asian country. On board the Boeing 777-300ER there were 211 passengers and 18 crew members, one of whom was among the injured. The victim is a 73-year-old British passenger who suffered cardiac arrest. According to tracking data provided by FlightRadar24 and analyzed by the Associated Press, the plane was traveling at an altitude of 11,300 meters, then within three minutes it dropped to 9,400 meters. It remained at this altitude for about 10 minutes before descending rapidly and subsequently landing in Bangkok.

The accident occurred when the plane was flying over the Andaman Sea and was approaching Burma. Rescue teams from Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, about 20 kilometers away from Suvarnabhumi Airport, were on site to transfer injured passengers off the runway for treatment. “Singapore Airlines extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” the airline said. “We are working with local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance and are sending a team to Bangkok to provide any further assistance needed,” the company added.
