Although competing with a small team made up of only five athletes, the Master swimming team of Vittorino da Feltre, coached by Cristiano Zappa, concluded the Nord Padania Trophy, held in recent days in Lodi, with a haul of four medals golden. Elena Monti (M65) climbed to the first step of the podium twice, winning gold both in the 100 backstroke (3’09”, 13 her time) and in the 100 breaststroke (3’26”, 27 ). Gold medal also for Maria Teresa Lambri (M60) who in the 200m breaststroke race beat all her opponents, finishing in first place in 4’31”,00, subsequently coming close to the podium in the 50m breaststroke, finishing in fourth place with a time of 57”,40. Roberto Mera (M55) also contributed to completing the medal count for Vittorino da Feltre, climbing to the first step of the podium in the 100m breaststroke thanks to a final time of 1’30”,46; Mera also took ninth place in the 50m freestyle (32.93). Also off the podium but with equally good results were Francesco Confalonieri (M30), who ranked seventh in the 100 breaststroke (1’31”,42) and subsequently twelfth in the 50 freestyle (30″,50), and Jacopo Saccardi (M30), ninth in the 50 butterfly (33”,99) and seventeenth in the 100 freestyle (1’08”,56). “Another excellent collective performance by all our swimmers who took to the pool – comments the red and white coach Cristiano Zappa – extraordinary athletes who do not always have the opportunity to carry out their preparation continuously, but who always manage to give their best in the competition themselves while also managing to have fun and cement their friendship. With only five athletes competing we won four gold medals in an important, well-attended and well-organised event; the balance is really very positive”.
