The Tacen canal (Ljubljana), in Slovenia, turns bluehome of the 2024 European Canoe Slalom Championships: in the Olympic specialty of men’s K1 Giovanni De Gennaro wins the gold medal and the continental title! The competition was pulverized despite 2 penalties: the Italian relegates his closest pursuer to 2″96!
The excellent day of the blue, which began already inthe only qualifying round, which De Gennaro finished in third placethen continues in final at 12 (due to the new competition rules of the European Federation), where the Italian, starting third from last, crumbles the competition.

De Gennaro does not let himself be influenced by the incident and with his kayak he speeds towards the finish line, clocking 86″56, with well 2″96 on the Austrian Mario Leitner and 3″87 on the Swiss Gelindo Chiarello. After the blue come the Czech Jiri Prskavec and the British Joseph Clarke, but they both miss a door.
When the review of the blue’s descent ends and the ranking becomes officialthe Italian party can start: the podium does not change, and so the silver goes to the Austrian and the bronze to the Swiss, both authors of clear paths. Without penalty also the race of the fourth classified, the Slovenian Ziga Lin Hocevarwith 90″78, 4″22 from the blue.
