The tragedy occurred today around 1pm in via Melchiade, right in the centre
He was lifting a sheet of metal while he was on the scaffolding of a building under renovation in the center of Scafati, when Alessandro P., a 22-year-old from Poggiomarino, was overwhelmed by the load he was hoisting which cut his throat. Death came in a short time. All this, while there were lots of people on the street.
The tragedy occurred in via Melchiade, a few steps from the Municipality, the Anardi school and a large car park, in front of the building where the façade renovation work was underway. Rescue efforts were useless, the very young man died in a few moments.
On site the Carabinieri of the Scafati lieutenancy and of the Territorial Department of Nocera Inferiore, under the orders of Lieutenant Colonel Gianfranco Albanese, among other things with a long experience in the specific unit of the Force at the labor inspectorate. Spsal inspectors were also on site. Investigations are also underway into the full regularity of the 22-year-old’s employment position.
