Today, Friday 17 May, is the day of reckoning and clarifications between the forces that govern the City of Cuneo together with the mayor Patrizia Manassero. For those who are superstitious, the date is not exactly a good choice. In fact, the long-awaited majority verification which has been requested several times and by various parties, depending on the moment, following the Fondazione Crc affair, will be held at 6pm. All representatives, group leaders, councilors and advisors of the majority will participate, while the minority will be protesting for the cedars of Piazza Europa.
The appointments on the board of directors of the Gola Foundation have in fact exposed tense nerves between the forces of the majority, in particular between the Center for Cuneo and the Democratic Party. First the civic group abandoned the city council in protest, effectively interrupting the session, for example by asking for a majority check. Then it was up to the PD secretariat, not the council group, to send a press release accusing the civic group of breaking the balance of the majority and therefore asking for clarification. To tell the truth, in both situations the groups did not seem so united: the abandonment of the Centro per Cuneo council chamber was the responsibility of the councilors but not one of the council had moved. And so the Pd statement, which many of the elected members of the Cuneo parliament ignored, was not signed by the group but only by the city secretary Erica Cosio.
On the table is certainly the “loyalty” to the program of the mayor Patrizia Manassero, the choice whether to continue the mandate or not, the evaluation of the goodness or the end of the Cuneo model which is based on the agreement between the civic lists and the Democratic Party. But perhaps also on the convergence on some projects that are making this administration struggle: from Piazza Europa to the Tettoia Vinaj, from the late Montezemolo to the questionable parking at the Campidoglio, from the road project around the new hospital in Confreria to the “lost” match on the Foundation. And we cannot miss the regional elections just around the corner with a candidate from the Centro per Cuneo civic list (councillor Maria Laura Risso) and the Action men from the list (primarily the provincial councilor Vincezo Pellegrino), from the Manassero majority, who will run for Cirio’s centre-right.
