The Golden Ambrogino, given today to Inter, is the highest honor of the Municipality of Milan

Inter received the Ambrogino d’oro, the highest honor of the Municipality of Milan, for the second star scudetto this morning in the Alessi Hall of Palazzo Marino. Waiting for the bus on which the players were traveling in Piazza della Scala was a group of celebrating fans. Inside it was the mayor Giuseppe Sala, “a little embarrassed because I have to try to be institutional but my ‘interism’ comes out” who presented the honor. “Twenty, however, is not a point of arrival,” he said, hoping “to soon see a 21st championship won”. Then the reassurance to the other Milanese club: “Obviously as mayor of Milan – and I have already said this to the Milan fans – I still have three years as mayor. If they go from 19th to 20th championship, they will be here.”

Taking the floor for Inter was Sport CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who thanked Sala “for the very prestigious recognition”, recalling the Scudetto celebration, which demonstrated “how sport is a phenomenon of strong aggregation”, with the crowd of fans united “by a common denominator which was the desire to experience a strong feeling like happiness, breaking down all cultural, social, ethnic and economic barriers”.
