Centria: the gas distribution company of the Estra group starts the campaign for zero-cost connections

The gas distribution company of the Estra group (Centria) has decided to reduce the costs of connections to the natural gas network in numerous municipalities in the areas served. The objective of the campaign is to give a further concrete reason to connect to the network and to promote the switch to methane gas compared to other more expensive, more polluting and less safe fuels. The campaign involves the application of a “zero cost” tariff to all requests on the natural gas network served by Centria, for the execution of a new connection, underground and overhead, including modifications and movements, up to and including 90mm diameter and for a maximum length of 20ml from the main pipe. The cost of installing a possible gas pressure reduction unit will be borne by the person requesting the connection, only if it has a flow rate greater than 50 Smc/h. Further concessions are also provided for all requests for estimates for the extension of the natural gas network, functional to the connection. The discount on the extension will be equal to the cost of 30ml of network creation for each potential customer to be connected.

“Investing in infrastructure has always been at the center of the Estra Group’s strategies as well as one of the sectors considered fundamental for the country’s energy transition – declares Francesco Macrì, president of Estra – Natural gas is, among fossil fuels, the one with the lowest carbon footprint and it is important to note that the gas system is increasingly affected by the diffusion of renewable energy through the use of gases such as biomethane, synthetic methane and, in the near future, hydrogen. 100 million euros will be invested in the two-year period 2024-2025″.

“Centria is a company that manages an essential public service – says Roberto Rappuoli, president of Centria – which has contributed to the economic development and well-being of territories and communities. With this campaign it further affirms its role and is among the few distribution companies that have decided to make connections free. A concrete way of demonstrating one’s corporate social responsibility.”

Participation in the Centria promotional campaign can take place until March 31, 2025 and will involve 74 municipalities in the provinces of Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Pistoia, Perugia and Prato.
