Over the past weekend, a Bellaria Igea Marina (RM), at the local Palasport, the Italian traditional karate championships of the Federation Shotokan Karate International-Italyreserved for the hope, junior, senior and veteran categories.

In front of the large and attentive public on major occasions, the athletes, more than 200 coming from different Italian regions, they competed in individual and team kata (figures) and kumite (fighting) competitions.

The opportunity allowed the technical director of SKI Italy-Europe, the Maestro Miura, assisted by the Maestro Lusvardi, to verify the athletes’ preparation and provide useful ideas for their growth.

The overall medal count of the two days of competition saw the region place first Piedmont with 43 medals, followed by Lombardy with 27 and Valle d’Aosta with 19.

On the first day of competition, reserved for competitions for senior black and brown belts (over 18 years) and veterans, the results for the Shotokan Karate Cavallermaggiore ASD. of the Master Massimo Spertino, which as always makes use of the collaboration of Maestro Antonino Viola, were very satisfactory.

In fact, the Cavallermaggiorese club won three Italian titles: silver medal for Mirko Mastrorillo in the individual brown belt kata master category; silver medal for the Master Massimo Spertino in the individual kumite master black belt category; bronze medal for Sofia Gentile in the individual senior brown belt kumite category.

The performances of the other SKC – ASD athletes were also very good, Mattia Biazzi and Walter Bonino, fourth place in the team kumite, Walter Bonino, fourth place in the individual master kata, Licia Carena and Lorenzo Modica who stood out in the competition and received various compliments by the technicians present.

On the second day, competitions were held for the youngest athletes, belonging to the Hope and Junior categories, which include athletes aged between 6 and 17; also in this case three Italian titles were won:

– gold medal for Matilde Bori in the yellow belt individual kata category;

– bronze medal for Christian Scandurra, in the individual kumite category;

– bronze medal for Michele Boninoin the team kumite category for Piedmont.

The other athletes from Cavallermaggiore who bravely challenged themselves in this important event were very good: Luca Bonino, Matilde Bonino, Noemi Mastrorillo and Ettore Spertino, who courageously faced the kata tests, coming close to the podium at this important seasonal event .
