Germany, Spain, Poland and Belgium these are just some of the twenty-two countries from which the over 100 people came to the city for the Spring Volunteering Congress, of days in which these delegates from various Centers for Volunteer Services and European municipalities will get to know different realities of the city territory to exchange good practices and enhance local volunteering.

The group’s activities began yesterday morning with the meeting of the management of the European Volunteer Center at the Vetrina del Volontariato in via Manci and the general assembly of the Center in Palazzo Benvenuti.

In the afternoon a group of around thirty delegates made their first visit to theSolidarity Emporium of Christ the King, a meeting place, listening space and food distribution for people in difficulty.

During the meeting the volunteers presented their parish association, explaining how they manage the food bank and the listening point, thus illustrating how they carry out their objective of supporting those who live in difficulty, helping them improve their condition and making them feel part of the community. community.

The over 100 families who rely on this service can purchase food and hygiene goods there through a points system, based on the number of members of the family unit. The presentation was followed by a tour of the general store and warehouse. The various delegates were thus able to experience and learn more about the management of the emporium.

Two volunteers then presented Feeding Trento, the participatory project born in 2017 to promote more conscious production and consumption of food products. The cardinal points of this plan are in fact the promotion of more conscious consumption, raising awareness towards more sustainable production and reducing the distance between producer and consumer, between city and countryside.

This project represents a real collaborative platform started in 2017 and is the result of the main synergy between the Municipality and the University of Trento, together with producers, trade associations, researchers, professionals, schools, citizens’ groups and associations. Various interventions from this project were presented, such as “Solidarity goes to the market”.

The afternoon ended with a moment of conviviality between the delegates and volunteers from Emporio Solida and Nutrire Trento.
