Bad weather, more rain. The alert remains for Lecco and Sondrio. Yesterday 60 interventions in the Lecco area

Sixty interventions by the Fire Brigade in the province of Lecco, ten in the province of Sondrio. The bad weather warning remains throughout Lombardy even if the situation is improving in these first hours. The most delicate situations in the Lecco area. At a certain point yesterday, those returning from a day of work no longer knew which way to turn: the bad weather put the entire road network in crisis, even the most peripheral ones.

The final blow came with the mandatory direction towards Oggiono exiting state road 36, due to the flooding of the Civate exit. Meanwhile, from 4.30pm – after hours of incessant rain and, invariably, close to rush hour – all the other main arteries began to have to be closed one by one, due to the ground being saturated with water or due to the flooding of the neighbours. waterways: in particular, the Lambro and the Bevera.

The latter also threatened homes closely: among the most affected municipalities, both due to hydrogeological instability and because it is a road hub, Nibionno stood out, but there were problems in Rogeno, in Sirone with the flooding of the ecostation and throughout the surrounding area, between overflowing manholes and flooded ground floors. The traffic, increasingly massive, poured onto the diversions until they too, more or less, went towards paralysis. The prologue had already taken place in Bulciago around 2pm, when Bevera was not long in coming: it had been necessary to close first Via Roma (near the Arrigoni hotel) and then the road to Cassago station, where the flooding was impressive, forcing the intervention of the Civil Protection. Difficulties also began for trains.

At the other end of the territory, at the confluence between the Erba-Lecco and the state road 36, motorists found themselves struggling in Suello with the usual closure of the junction for Lecco, with a diversion towards Annone. It was just a taste of what would happen, a couple of hours later, at the junction of the 342 with the state road 36 in Nibionno, due to the Lambro, with also an evacuation alert for the inhabitants of the localities of Gaggio and Molino Nuovo. While the local police, municipal administrators and Civil Protection converged at various points to take measures and divert traffic, landslides began again in Nibionno, particularly in Cibrone.

The Bulciago administration also made an appeal to citizens, through social channels, to limit travel. Around 5pm, the 342 Como-Bergamo was closed, right between Nibionno and Bulciago. And this was still only the beginning: an hour later, the provincial road connecting Molteno, Sirone and Oggiono was blocked due to the flooding of the Gandaloglio, a tributary of the Bevera. In Molteno the alert quickly reached its peak, with the Bevera arriving in the evening to touch and then cross the bridges. Meanwhile, at the junctions of 342 and 36 the presence of water gradually increased the risk of accidents, with a rapidly and constantly worsening situation.

The Bevera has even overflowed its banks in Barzago, in the lower part of the hamlet of Bevera, on the border with Castello Brianza. The mayor, Mirko Ceroli, went to the site with the Civil Protection of the Green Cross Bosisio. The volunteers, at that time, were already mobilized everywhere, on a growing number of fronts; the scenario was becoming worrying even on the side of the Sp51, the Lecco-Casatenovo, which remained the only alternative after the closure of the Molteno-Oggiono parallel and was already very busy in itself. In Oggiono, the mayor, Chiara Narciso, after the closure of the internal provincial road, also went with the Civil Protection to a landslide which occurred upstream, but on private land. After 8pm, the Bevera exceeded the critical threshold in the center of Molteno, forcing the closure of Viale Consolini and Via del Cavo, in the middle of the town.

The rains continued throughout the night and the alert still remains throughout the entire territory
